Welcome to Spring Maintenance in #LincolnON

The Town of Lincoln’s Public Works department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of Lincoln’s Road network.

Did you know Public Works oversees approximately 300km of roadway, including 49 bridges, 130 culverts, and over 700 fire hydrants? That is an important job, and the Town is committed to improving safe passage for residents, visitors, and businesses during the spring season, prioritizing our infrastructure to be maintained to the highest standards.

Spring is here, and our seasonal maintenance program is underway in Lincoln.

  • Street sweeping in urban areas is expected to get underway the week of May 2, 2022. And will take approximately 10 weeks to complete (pending weather conditions). Rural areas will commence mid-April, weather permitting and will continue until completed. Please keep parked cars off the roadways so crews can properly access them. Signage will be posted in the week before sweeping in that neighbourhood.
  • Hydrant flushing is performed annually in the spring for the general maintenance of the water distribution system. It is essential to work that maintains our hydrants and ensures good working conditions for fire services. Flushing started mid-April and covered the Beamsville, Vineland, and Jordan serviced areas.  It can take up to 2 months to complete flushing in the entire system. Residents may experience temporary low-water pressure during flushing and/or cloudy or discoloured water conditions after flushing is completed. Running your taps for approximately 10 minutes will typically clear any cloudiness or discolouration.
  • Pothole repairs get underway in the spring once temperatures remain consistently mild for several days and the Town can access the material to make proper asphalt repairs. Due to cold conditions, only cold patch (temporary) repairs are possible during the winter months.

Thank you for your comment. 17th Street is currently on the 4 year roads resurfacing forecast for 2025 pending budget and Council approvals. In the interim, Roads Operations Staff will continue to monitor the road for potholes and address them as needed.
