Grand Re-Opening!

The Town of Lincoln held a Grand Re-Opening of Ashby Drive Park with lots of kids' activities, demonstrations, speeches and a ribbon cutting in early August, 2023. We would like to thank everyone who participated and played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event and the improvements to our park. We look forward to seeing residents and visitors enjoy these new amenities!

Check out the video below outlining the park's enhancements and a celebration of the grand re-opening:

About Ashby Drive Park Development

Ashby Drive Park is a 2.5 acre parcel of parkland located at 4079 Ashby Drive in Beamsville. The park services a new development, Cherry Heights/Cachet and the existing community neighbourhood as well. Cash-in-lieu of parkland from the subdivision agreement was used towards the planned enhancements. Enhancements began on site in the Fall of 2020 and completed in the Spring of 2023.

This project aligned with Town plans, including:

The Town continues to replace existing parks infrastructure according to lifecycle needs as well as identify and plan for park renewal, redevelopment and barrier-free projects that address aging infrastructure, accessibility requirements and capital improvements.

Council approved the Town’s first comprehensive Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan (PRCMP) in 2019.

Enhancements to this community park meets the following six priority recommendations in the plan:

  • Promotion of free and low fee activity options to ensure universal access across the community. This includes, but is not limited to, opportunities to enjoy outdoor settings and enhance connections with nature;

  • Share What is happening with the passive park up the street from Ashby in the Cherry Heights Neighborhood? I was told the money from that the cherry heights development initially earmarked for that park was used towards the additions to the Ashby park, but there have been excavators levelling the area for 2 weeks at the passive park location. I've looked online for a plan, or any information at all and there is nothing to be found.. Is there an official plan with photos for the new passive park in the same neighborhood? The Town received cash-in-lieu of parkland from the developer to be used for the park enhancements at Ashby Drive Park since the greenspace within the Cherry Heights development has some built limitations. As part of the subdivision agreement, the developer will also be installing a passive and serene park within the greenspace in the Cherry Heights development.

    Thank you for your comment. The current enhancements plan for Ashby Drive Park does not include budget for installing bocce courts at this time, however staff are always glad to receive resident input for consideration of future installations.
