Project Overview

Nestled at 4317 Central Avenue in Beamsville, Beamsville District Secondary School (BDSS) has been a cherished part of the Lincoln and West Niagara community since its establishment in 1888.

In March 2017, the District School Board of Niagara (DSBN) announced that BDSS would be closed once the new West Niagara Secondary School opened. Fast forward to September 2021, the Town of Lincoln announced its intent to purchase the surplus school property, marking a significant step forward with the signing of the Letter of Intent by December 2021.

In June 2024, the Town of Lincoln completed a successful agreement to acquire the surplus property housing the former BDSS site from the DSBN. Based on the signed agreement, the Town will take ownership in January 2025.

This is an important opportunity for the Town to take ownership of a property that is not only centrally located in Beamsville and within walking distance of many amenities and services, but one that is also rich in history. By purchasing the site, the Town will shape its future and we are excited about leading this transformational project. The Town is seeking public feedback to shape future plans for the former BDSS site, ensuring it aligns with our community’s evolving needs. Recognizing that part of the site will likely include a private sector partner, the Town is seeking feedback on what both public and private uses look like, while ensuring delivery of services and community benefits. This survey is just the beginning of our ongoing public engagement process, which will take many forms as we continue to gather input and ideas from the community.
