The Town of Lincoln is undertaking a detailed design assignment to guide the future Reconstruction of Aberdeen Road.

Aberdeen Road is an existing 2-lane rural road between King Road and Hillside Drive. Partially located within the community of Beamsville, with mostly agricultural land uses with some rural residential houses. As identified in the Town's Capital Plan and other Town master plans, Aberdeen Road was a corridor for potential review and improvement. Improvements to Aberdeen Road are in response to community connectivity, active transportation, and pedestrian safety.

The project schedule includes a sidewalk installation connected to the Ashby trail.

  1. A geotechnical investigation (which looked at the rock and soil under the roadway and surrounding areas) indicated the pavement is in poor condition. There are some slope stability concerns near Hillside Drive.
  2. The Town's Transportation Master Plan identified Aberdeen Road as a short-term priority for active transportation improvements and road reconstruction. The Active Transportation Strategy identified Aberdeen Road as a signed route for cyclists.

It's intended that Aberdeen Road reconstruction include:

  • New pavement
  • A design solution that accommodates active transportation use on-road (specifically for cyclists) as well as in the boulevard (for pedestrians)
  • To nominally shift the road in the proximity of Hillside Drive to address slope stability issues.
